Commando Joe’s
The “COJO Missions” at our school form part of an exciting and dynamic character-building initiative inspired by Commando Joe’s program. These missions are integrated across various aspects of school life, from learning adventures to lunchtimes and small group interventions.
Commando Joe’s program emphasizes building resilience, teamwork, and leadership through fun and engaging activities. Through role-playing as explorers, students follow mission-based adventures that focus on essential life skills like communication, problem-solving, and empathy. These missions help students develop positive behaviours, self-worth, and confidence, which are crucial for both their academic and personal growth.
COJO Missions also operate under the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. framework, which stands for:
- Resilience
- Empathy
- Self-Awareness
- Positivity
- Excellence
- Communication
- Teamwork
This framework is designed to develop key character traits in children through structured activities that challenge them both mentally and physically. By engaging with the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. framework, students enhance their ability to face challenges with confidence, communicate effectively, and show empathy towards their peers. These missions help children not only in academic settings but also in their social and emotional development.
The benefits of the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. framework are numerous, including improved behaviour, better cooperation, and a stronger sense of responsibility. Children learn to adapt to various challenges, fostering resilience and a growth mindset. This approach supports positive mental health and encourages the development of skills that are vital for success both in and out of the classroom.
